Hi. My name is Gary Van Domelen and I am proud to be the President of Rotary East. Our club has a rich heritage of "Service Before Self" that dates back to 1971. One of our first community service projects involved raising money and planting nearly 5,000 trees in La Crosse to replace trees dying from Dutch elm disease. We are also involved in international projects, most notably our three year commitment to providing a safe and reliable source of drinking water to a community in Nicaragua. The Nicaragua project involved a significant cash donation from the club, a portion of which was matched in a grant from Rotary International and the personal commitment of one club member who traveled more than once to Nicaragua to coordinate our efforts and ensure the project's success. We have also actively contributed to Rotary Lights, Kids Coulee and more recently, the Myrick Hixson EcoPark Project. We are also charter members of the new Rotary Works Foundation where together with the other 7 area Rotary Clubs donate money to important local and international causes.
Our club meets Monday at noon. Come join us as a guest! Our members live in the greater La Crosse area and represent employees from our universities, hospitals, local businesses and non profits. We also have a number of retirees and other active members. We are currently meeting at Piggy's Restaurant, 501 Front Street South. We are always looking for new members and if you are interested in hearing more about our opportunities for networking and community service please call me at 608-790-4695
