In an effort to streamline meeting set up and eliminate last-minute issues with technology, please email a copy of the guest's presentation to Randy Van Rooyen prior to the meeting. Randy will load the presentation on his laptop so the guest speaker doesn't have to worry about technology the day of the meeting. Guests can bring their own laptop if they insist but we prefer to have the presentations in advance. Thank you.

Rotary International President John Germ has encouraged us this year to be "Rotary Serving Humanity". As I visited the 63 clubs in District 6250, I have seen evidence in every club where we are living up to this, both locally and internationally. Even more powerful, we are working together with our friends as we make meaningful differences in the lives of others.
I encourage you to celebrate Rotary friendship and Rotary progress with your fellow Rotarians in La Crosse. At District Conference 2017 we will learn about some of the outstanding projects happening as a result of the efforts of our District's clubs and assistance from The Rotary Foundation. We will have opportunity to learn more about specific Rotary roles and programs at District Assembly and at workshops. We will hear from several young people whose lives have been changed forever by Rotary Youth programs. We will hear inspiring messages about service and philanthropy from Rotarian and non Rotarian keynote speakers. Probably most important of all, we will meet and talk with Rotarians from all around our District, taking home new ideas to improve our clubs.
Join me in La Crosse to renew old friendships and make new ones in Rotary.

A few quick facts about RYLA:
What is the Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) Conference? The RYLA Conference is a 3-day leadership training opportunity that focuses on the personal and professional development of high school students. Leadership skills, concepts, and metaphors are explored through participatory outdoor-based activities that include trust building exercise, problem solving initiatives, and low and high challenge course experiences.
Who exactly is it for? The RYLA Conference is for sophomores in high school.
Why does it exist? Strong leaders are made, not born. Leadership principles are learned not inherited. RYLA Conference participants, the “leaders of tomorrow,” deserve the opportunity to be exposed to many facets of leadership. The RYLA Conference provides an enjoyable and valuable experience for those who chose to meet the challenge.
Thanks to all Rotarians, family members and friends who helped prepare for and walk in our first parade! Given the number of selfies take with the Lobster, I'd say the event was a success!
