Gundersen Global Partners, along with many globally-minded colleagues, invites you to join us in celebration of our region’s many global and cultural relationships and initiatives during the 4th annual Global Initiatives Week.
 
This year during the week of Nov. 4-11, more than 30 events – organized by area non-profits, colleges, health systems, tourism office, businesses, schools, libraries and more – are scheduled at various locations and are designed to raise global awareness and inspire local action.
 
The week kicks off with a free, family-friendly Global Celebration at the Myrick Park Center on Friday, Nov. 4, from 4-7pm. Come for 30 minutes or 3 hours to enjoy global food samples, a multi-lingual children’s story time, and several cultural music and dance performances.
 
In addition to having a booth at the kickoff event, Gundersen/Global Partners will be involved in several events throughout the week. These are open to employees and community members alike:
 
 
Global Challenge EmailSign up here to receive daily email “challenges” (Nov. 4-11) that encourage global thinking, and have your name entered into a drawing for prizes from Global Partners.
 
“Connected by Coffee” – This is an inspiring film that showcases the lives and history of the people who grow the coffee we drink, and gives us a glimpse into coffee-growing communities like the ones where Global Partners works in Nicaragua. Click here to watch the trailer. The screening will be on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 12 p.m., at Gundersen La Crosse Clinic, Lower Level, Main Clinic Basement CR1. (bring your own lunch)
 
Norwegian Art of Rosemaling –Mary Koehler will showcase this traditional art form and have some extra brushes on hand to try a few strokes yourself! This event will be on Thursday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the hospital lobby (in conjunction with Healing Arts week Nov. 7-11).
 
A Night in Nicaragua-International Family Dance – Bring the family together for a night of cultural immersion through dance, food and fun at North Woods International Elementary School (N2541 Sablewood Rd., La Crosse) on Thursday, Nov. 10, from 5:30-7 p.m. Global Partners will be providing free black bean brownies and information on our Nicaragua partnership. Food will also be available for purchase.
 
Cultural recipes and menu items will be highlighted in the hospital cafeteria during the week and available for purchase.
 
And finally, 10 local restaurants and businesses are offering discounts during the week to patrons who mention “Global Initiatives Week.” A complete list of participating businesses and a calendar of events is attached and also available at www.explorelacrosse.com/global.
